IT’S A CONSPIRACY! The Chocolate Conspiracy’s Wholesome Chocolates

You might not expect someone with a background in health and wellness to wind up as a gourmet chocolatier, but that’s what happened to AJ Wentworth, founder/chocolate maker at The Chocolate Conspiracy located in Salt Lake City.
“I am a certified holistic health practitioner. I noticed that there was a lack in diversity for healthy dessert options. This led me to chocolate,” says Wentworth. Being health-conscious, The Chocolate Conspiracy never uses refined sugar in their products, nor do they roast their cacao beans. “We manufacture chocolate from bean to finished product. Our chocolate is sweetened with raw Utah honey. We are the only bean to bar chocolate in the U.S. to use honey as a primary sweetener,” he adds.
As a nod to Utah and the raw, unfiltered Utah honey used to produce their chocolate, The Chocolate Conspiracy bars are shaped like honey combs.
Reflecting on the creation of The Chocolate Conspiracy, Wentworth says “I knew that I had a product that was going to fill a niche, and many people were asking for it. We market ourselves as a healthy fine chocolate. No fillers, no additives, nothing artificial, no soy, no dairy, no gluten and no refined sugar.” His mission is “to produce a fine chocolate with amazing flavor while retaining and exemplifying the nutritional content. Our cacao is ALWAYS certified organic,” he stresses. His cacao beans are currently sourced from the Agro-Industrial Cooperative Atalaya in the Ucayali region of Peru. Who knew chocolate could be healthy?
